On February 9th, 2022 Elgin City council unanimously (9-0) welcomed Alchemy Tattoo & Gallery to it's downtown! Alchemy has been looking to expand and relocated its establishment and finally the perfect space has been found!
Founder, Amy Porter, previously lived in Elgin in 2012. She move to ArtSpace Lofts in 2014, resided there for four years, which afforded her with many opportunities in the blooming Elgin art scene. She exhibited her art at Side Street Studio Arts, ArtSpace Loft's gallery, and various other spaces.
In 2018 to further her art career, Amy began pursuing art and tattoo endeavors outside of Elgin. She opened her private studio in Arlington Heights in 2020. After much success she sought to expand Alchemy to a larger location. This would allow her to provide creative opportunities to other artists.
Alchemy is now in process of relocating to 107 E Highland Ave, located in downtown Elgin. The private tattoo studio will be located on the second floor of the property above the restaurant Red Poppy Bistro. Alchemy's artists will have their own individual studio spaces and an art gallery to host works local artists. Alchemy will remain a woman owned and operated space, providing an inclusive space for all peoples and all bodies. Being located in Elgin provides Alchemy's patrons with options for fun restaurants, other art galleries, public art, and access via the Metra Milwaukee District West station.
Alchemy is currently remodeling the space and is expected to open sometime in March! Updates will be provided for Alchemy's progress.
